What does it mean to be a person with loose stools?

Loose stools are defined as unformed stools with an appearance similar to that of loose mud. Most of the patients with these symptoms also have complications such as abdominal pain and frequent bowel movements, which are mostly associated with acute inflammatory diseases of the digestive tract, such as acute gastroenteritis, bacterial dysentery and adenoviral enteritis. This is because inflammatory lesions in the local tissues of the GI tract cause congestion, swelling and absorption disorders in the superficial mucosa. When a large amount of water and food enters the digestive tract, it is not properly decomposed and absorbed, and it is accelerated into the excretory system and excreted from the body, resulting in abdominal pain, diarrhea, and loose stools. Other non-inflammatory diseases such as intestinal stroke, irritable bowel syndrome, and ileal cell carcinoma may also trigger the occurrence of such adverse symptoms.
