What to pay attention to in children’s optometry and astigmatism

There are three types of drugs generally used in children’s optometry for pupil dilatation, which have basically the same role and purpose, the main thing is that the duration of maintenance is different. The longest duration is atropine sulfate ophthalmic gel, which will only dissipate after three weeks, so there are some precautions to take during use, as follows: 1. Shading: After the pupil is dilated, you will be afraid of light and have difficulty looking close, so do not use your eyes at close range during pupil dilatation, or It is not recommended to read books, computers, or cell phones for long-term use. When you go outside, you should avoid bright light stimulation, because the pupil cannot be adjusted on its own after dilatation, so you can wear sunglasses or a sun hat outdoors. 2. Pressure on the inner canthus after using the medication: A few children may experience flushing of the face, thirst, fever, or even headache, nausea, vomiting, or some eyelid edema and excitement after dilating the pupil. Children absorb too much, so each time after ordering the drug, use your hand to compress the inner canthus of the eye for 5-10 minutes to reduce absorption, most of them will disappear on their own with time. If parents are unsure, they can take their child to the hospital for a checkup.
