Formulae Composition of Hepatolytic Decoction

Liver Transformation Decoction is composed of Chen Pi, Qing Pi, Mudan Pi, Bai Shao, Gardenia, Ze Xie, and Tu Bei Mu.
Hepatization Decoction is from Jingyue Quanshu (景岳全书). This formula consists of 6 grams each of Chen Pi, Chen Pi, Paeoniae Alba, 4.5 grams each of Mudan Pi, Gardenia (fried), Ze Xie (replaced by Licorice if blood is seen in the lower part of the body), and 6-9 grams of Tu Bei Mu.
It is used for treating liver injury caused by anger, qi reversal and fire, coercive pain and distension (pain and distension in the area of coercion and ribs), and disturbing heat and moving blood (disturbing heat and sultriness leading to abnormal operation of the blood).
This medicine should be decocted with water and taken warm on an empty stomach. If there is blood in the stool, add 4.5 g of Diyu; if there is blood in urine, add 4.5 g of Mutong. The adverse reactions and contraindications of Hepatolytic Decoction are not known.
