Recommended oral contraceptive pills immediately after abortion

  Nowadays, abortion among young people is increasing year by year in our country. Abortion can cause many complications, such as infection, bleeding, irregular menstruation, infertility, premature birth, etc. Women who do not have the requirement to have children are advised to use good contraception. Avoid abortion.  Previously, domestic guidelines required that contraception be considered after one menstrual period after abortion. However, studies have found that the ovaries are stimulated by FSH within 4-9 days after miscarriage. Ovulation resumes 2 weeks after early miscarriage, and 75% of women who have miscarried complete ovulation within 6 weeks. Another pregnancy can occur before the first menstrual period. Therefore, post-abortion contraception is essential.  WHO recommendation: Effective contraception should be used immediately after abortion to avoid repeated abortions.  Short-acting oral contraceptive pills can be started immediately after abortion.  It can be used on the day of abortion with or without complications. If it is started more than 5 days before, you need to add a condom for contraception one week after the pill. Short-acting oral contraceptives do not adversely affect the bleeding pattern after a medication abortion.  The short-acting oral contraceptive pill should be started immediately after abortion to significantly reduce the amount and duration of vaginal bleeding.  Discontinuation of short-acting oral contraceptives is not necessary for suspected incomplete abortions.  Normal bleeding time <2 weeks, if bleeding >2 weeks, come to hospital for review.  1.Check blood HCG: 3 weeks after abortion or 2 weeks after medical abortion, it should return to normal level.  2.B ultrasound: to know whether there is residue in the uterus.  3.Pelvic examination: to exclude inflammation and blockage of the cervical opening.  Intrauterine device can also be placed immediately after abortion in early pregnancy.
