How to prevent pancreatic cancer?

I don’t know if you know that there is a very small and inconspicuous organ deep in the upper abdomen of our body, which is the pancreas. In recent years, there are more and more reports about cancer of the pancreas, which makes us pay attention to it: as our living standard continues to improve, the incidence of pancreatic cancer is also rising. At the same time, the mortality rate of pancreatic cancer reaches 99%. In the medically advanced United States, there were 31,860 new cases of pancreatic cancer in 2005, and the shocking thing is that the number of deaths from it is also as high as 31,720, almost equal to the number of incidences. Comrade Huang Ju, the former Premier of China, and Pavarotti, the world-famous tenor singer, both died of pancreatic cancer. All this has earned it the title of “King of Cancer”. Are we really helpless against the “king of cancer”? It has been proven that pancreatic cancer is not that terrible, and the theory of tertiary prevention provides us with comprehensive guidance to keep away from pancreatic cancer. What is tertiary prevention of pancreatic cancer? The so-called tertiary prevention refers to: primary prevention: prevention of the cause of the disease, that is, the removal of all self and environmental factors related to the occurrence of pancreatic cancer, is the fundamental measure to prevent the occurrence of the disease and eliminate the disease. Although the exact cause of pancreatic cancer is still unclear, it is certain that its development is closely related to lifestyle, which is the “lifestyle cancer”. Therefore, we should do the following five things to prevent pancreatic cancer: First, we should avoid a diet high in animal protein and fat. Studies have shown that excessive intake of such food increases the chance of pancreatic cancer. The relatively high incidence of pancreatic cancer in developed countries such as Europe and America is mostly related to this. People should ensure a reasonable mix of meat, eggs, vegetables, fruits and grains in their diet, not to be partial or picky, eat less fried, fried and baked foods, and increase the intake of coarse grains and vegetables and fruits. Secondly, do not smoke. Tobacco contains a variety of carcinogenic substances that can increase the risk of pancreatic cancer by more than three times, and the more you smoke, the greater the chances of disease. Thirdly, insist on exercising and maintaining good mood, which is the core of the first level of prevention. Fourth, avoid overeating and alcohol abuse. Binge drinking and alcohol abuse are the main causes of chronic pancreatitis, and the pancreas in the long-term stimulation of chronic inflammation will also increase the risk of cancer. Fifth, less exposure to harmful chemicals such as naphthylamine and aniline. Studies show that the risk of pancreatic cancer is about 5 times higher in people who are exposed to these chemicals for a long time. Those who are exposed to these chemicals for a long time due to their work should be well protected. Secondary prevention: also known as the three early preventions, i.e. early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment. It is known that the 5-year survival rate of pancreatic cancer less than 2cm in diameter is 20%-40%, and the 5-year survival rate of pancreatic cancer less than 1cm in diameter is 67%, which is much higher than the 3%-5% of middle and late stage pancreatic cancer, thus showing the importance of the three early preventions. To improve the detection rate of early pancreatic cancer, first of all, we must pay attention to the surveillance of high-risk groups, such as those who have a family history of pancreatic cancer, those who have suffered from chronic pancreatitis, those who have undergone major gastrectomy, and those who have sudden onset of diabetes mellitus, and so on, should have regular medical checkups. Ultrasound is the preferred method for pancreatic cancer diagnosis, which is non-invasive and inexpensive and can detect pancreatic abnormalities at an early stage. Tertiary prevention: Tertiary prevention is mainly symptomatic treatment to prevent deterioration, reduce the adverse effects of the disease, prevent recurrence and metastasis, prevent complications and disability; for those who have lost their labor force, rehabilitation treatment is used to promote early recovery of their physical and mental aspects to restore their labor force and preserve their ability to create spiritual and social labor values. The application of intraoperative radiotherapy techniques and other techniques is effective in relieving pain relief for patients with unresectable pancreatic tumors. With the help of tertiary prevention, especially etiological prevention and three early prevention, we are no longer helpless against pancreatic cancer, and we have another sharp sword that can remove the tumor from our connection.
