There are a total of three types of eye laser treatments: one for the cornea; one for the iris ciliary atrial angle; and another for the retina and choroid. Laser treatment of the cornea is often referred to as myopia surgery, also called excimer laser, which is further divided into regular excimer laser and femtosecond laser for myopia. Intraocular laser treatments, such as iris perforation and atrial angioplasty for glaucoma and trabeculoplasty, can be done for the iris. For fundus laser treatment, total retinal photocoagulation or macular septal grid-like photocoagulation can be done for glycoplegia, and limited photocoagulation for superior temporal branch vein obstruction and closure of retinal fissures are all in the scope of ophthalmic laser treatment.
