If a woman has sexual intercourse during ovulation and the egg and sperm combine to conceive, the fertilized egg will begin to secrete HCG after it has settled and the concentration of HCG in the blood will begin to rise about 10 days after ovulation.
However, at this point in time, the concentration of HCG in a woman’s urine is not yet too high, and pregnancy cannot be detected through early pregnancy tests, but if you go to the hospital and have blood drawn to check the HCG in the blood, pregnancy can usually be detected.
If a woman is pregnant, pregnancy can usually be detected by checking blood HCG about 10 days after ovulation.
