Lumbar disc herniation is one of the common diseases in spinal surgery. There are more examination methods that can be used for diagnosis during medical checkups, and it is impossible to determine which method is better due to the differences in individual conditions. At present, the commonly used examination methods for lumbar disc herniation include physical examination, imaging examination, electrophysiologic examination and so on. 1. Physical examination: through straight leg raising, elevation of the healthy limbs, supine abdomen, femoral nerve stretching, neck flexion, jugular vein compression and other examination techniques, we can observe whether the lumbar vertebrae have restricted movement, find out whether sciatica is present, and check whether there is pain in the lumbar region or reflex pain in the lower limbs. 2. Imaging examination: X-ray of lumbar spine can be used to check whether there are degenerative changes such as stenosis and hyperplasia of intervertebral discs; CT of lumbar spine can be used to observe the status of intervertebral discs, nerve roots, dural sacs and other parts of the spine; and magnetic resonance imaging can be used to find out whether there is any pathology in lumbar spine discs. 3. Electrophysiological examination: electromyography and other examinations can be conducted to understand the nerve damage. If symptoms related to lumbar disc herniation occur, such as lumbar pain, radiating pain in the lower limbs, intermittent claudication, etc., you should consult a doctor for examination in a timely manner, and cooperate with the doctor to complete the targeted treatment in order to alleviate the uncomfortable symptoms.
