What does enhanced echogenicity of the left spermatic cord mean?

Echo enhancement of the left spermatic cord is an imaging description and does not necessarily indicate any disease. However, this condition is mostly indicative of inflammation of the spermatic cord. Inflammation of the spermatic cord can be categorized into specific and nonspecific inflammation depending on the pathogen of infection. The pathogens of specific inflammation are filarial and Mycobacterium tuberculosis; the pathogens of non-specific inflammation are mostly Escherichia coli and staphylococcus. Simple spermatitis is rare and often occurs after urologic surgery, urologic instrumentation or catheterization, and can also spread from prostatitis and seminal vesiculitis, and can be accompanied by testicular and epididymitis in most cases. The clinical manifestations of spermatitis are pain in the right or left lower abdomen and inguinal area, thickening and hardening of the spermatic cord on palpation, and obvious tenderness. Patients are advised to seek timely medical attention and not to blindly use medication on their own to avoid delaying or aggravating their condition.
