Grading the degree of breast gigantism

Breast gigantism is clinically known as breast hypertrophy. Normal breasts are located in the 2nd to 6th intercostal space with the nipple located in the 4th rib, while the nipple of mature, fuller breasts can be located in the 5th intercostal space. According to the degree of breast hypertrophy and breast ptosis, huge breasts are categorized into three levels: 1. Mild breast hypertrophy and ptosis: the nipple drops 1~7㎝, and the amount of breast tissue to be removed on each side is <200g. 2. Moderate breast hypertrophy and ptosis: nipple drop 7.1~12㎝, amount of breast tissue to be removed on each side 200~700g. 3. Severe breast hypertrophy and ptosis: nipple drop >12.1㎝, amount of breast tissue to be removed on each side >700g. Breast hypertrophy is also called gigantomastia, and its typical symptom is overdevelopment of breasts, including overgrowth of glands and fat connective tissues, excessive volume, and obvious disorder with the body, etc. This disease is most common in pregnancy and pregnancy. This condition is most common in post-pregnancy or adolescent women, and is often characterized by a simultaneous increase in the size of both breasts, occasionally unilateral increase in size leading to asymmetry, and is often accompanied by varying degrees of breast ptosis. Patients with breast enlargement can go to specialized hospitals for surgical treatment, removing part of the breast skin as well as breast tissue to reduce the size of the breasts, and nipple and areola reshaping.
