Ling Gui Zhu Gan Tang can be used to treat back coldness. When there is a drinking evil staying in the lower part of the heart, Yang Qi is suppressed, so there will be coldness in the undershirt. The treatment should be warming Yang and eliminating drinking (warming Yang Qi in the body to promote the metabolism of water and liquid), and Ling Gui Jiu Gan Tang can be chosen for the treatment.
Ling Gui Zhu Gan Tang has the effect of warming yang and resolving phlegm, invigorating the spleen and inducing dampness. It is used to treat phlegm-drinking (a pathological product of impaired water-liquid metabolism) when there is insufficient Yang in the middle Jiao. Symptoms include fullness in the chest and ribs, dizziness, palpitation, shortness of breath and cough. Poria strengthens the spleen, induces diuresis, seeps dampness and resolves beverages. Gui Zhi warms yang and transforms qi (warms and passes yang qi in the body), and pacifies and subdues rebellious qi (resolves upward rebellious qi with qi subduing drugs). Poria and Gui Zhi together are a common combination for warming Yang, neutralizing Qi, and promoting leveling of Qi.
Atractylodes Macrocephalae strengthens the spleen and dries dampness. Poria and Atractylodes Macrocephalae together is a common combination for strengthening the spleen and dispelling dampness, reflecting the meaning of treating the source of phlegm to cure the root cause of phlegm. Gui Zhi and Atractylodes Macrocephalae are used together, which is also a common combination for warming Yang and strengthening the Spleen. Roasted licorice harmonizes the herbs (harmonizes the medicinal properties of different herbs). This formula is not suitable for those who have been drinking evil and turning into heat, coughing up phlegm and sticky phlegm, precautions and adverse reactions are not yet clear.
