Hypothyroidism, also known as hypothyroidism, can be completely cured depending on the situation. Hypothyroidism caused by subacute thyroiditis and medications may be cured; hypothyroidism caused by autoimmune thyroiditis and treatments generally cannot be cured.
Whether or not hypothyroidism can be cured depends on the cause of hypothyroidism. Subacute thyroiditis is a self-limiting disease, and hypothyroidism caused by it may be cured. However, a small number of patients with subacute thyroiditis may develop permanent hypothyroidism. Drug-induced hypothyroidism can also be caused by overdose of antithyroid drugs such as propoxypyrine, which can be restored by stopping or reducing the dosage of the drug.
However, hypothyroidism caused by autoimmune thyroiditis (e.g. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, atrophic thyroiditis, etc.), treatment (thyroidectomy, iodine radiation therapy, etc.) and other conditions can not be completely cured, but under standardized use of medication, the thyroid hormones can be maintained at normal levels.
Patients diagnosed with hypothyroidism should actively cooperate with doctors for treatment.
