What’s wrong with a small amount of blood in the vagina after intercourse?

A small amount of blood after coitus may be related to external injuries such as roughness during coitus, or pathological causes such as vaginitis, uterine fibroids, acute cervicitis or cervical lesions, which need to be specifically analyzed.
1. External injuries: excessive force during coitus can cause irritation to the vaginal wall and cervix, resulting in symptoms of blood, if accompanied by significant vaginal pain and discomfort or significant increase in vaginal bleeding, it is recommended to consult a doctor in a timely manner.
2. Vaginitis: vaginitis leads to congestion and edema of the vaginal mucosa, which can cause the local mucous membrane of the vagina to break down after intercourse, and also lead to a small amount of vaginal bleeding after intercourse.
3. Uterine fibroids: if a woman suffers from uterine fibroids, especially submucous fibroids, during coitus, there may be stimulation of the uterus, resulting in blood after coitus.
4. Cervicitis or cervical lesions: acute cervicitis when the cervical mucosa congestion and edema, coitus stimulation may also lead to a small amount of vaginal blood. Pre-cancerous lesions of the cervix or cervical cancer is also a common cause of small amounts of blood in the vagina after intercourse.
There may be other reasons for the small amount of blood after intercourse, it is recommended to go to the hospital in a timely manner to improve the cervix, TCT (cervical liquid-based cytology) examination, HPV (human papillomavirus) examination, gynecological ultrasound and other examinations, to confirm whether there are cervical and uterine pathologies, and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
