Infant eczema is a common and frequent disease in dermatology. The usual medication is not effective, hormonal treatment has many side effects, and often recurs, causing great harm to the physical and mental health of affected children and their parents. Especially chronic eczema in infants, which often does not heal over the years, seriously affects the growth and development of infants. In recent years, we have achieved satisfactory results in treating chronic infantile eczema with Chinese herbal medicine applied to the umbilical cord. During the embryonic period, the umbilical cord is the only channel for the fetus to connect to the mother and obtain blood, oxygen and nutrients. The umbilicus is the last place where the abdominal wall closes during embryonic development, and there is no fatty tissue under the umbilicus, so the permeability is strong and the drug is easy to penetrate and diffuse, and the skin of the umbilicus has the absorption capacity of the general skin, in addition to the peritoneum under the umbilicus, there is a rich network of veins and branches of the arteries under the abdomen, so the drug diffuses to the veins or branches of the arteries under the abdomen in the umbilicus and enters the body circulation; this special structure is the drug can be absorbed quickly. This special structure is a favorable condition for the drug to be absorbed rapidly. In addition, the drug is not damaged by the interference of gastric enzymes, therefore, the drug dosage is small and the effect is fast. It is especially suitable for patients with gastrointestinal and liver diseases, and is an ideal route of drug delivery because it is not metabolized by the liver and can reduce toxic side effects. Especially for infants, the internal organs are delicate, the skin is thin and sensitive to drugs, so the umbilicus is mostly used for external treatment of internal diseases. Modern research shows that when aromatic drugs are placed under the umbilicus, the drugs continuously stimulate the skin under the umbilicus, which can activate the feedback effect of neuroendocrine and promote the immune function of the body. According to Chinese medicine, the medicine enters the umbilicus and acts on the stomach and small intestine first, and then spreads to the five internal organs, six internal organs and even the whole body through the gasification and transmission of the internal organs, so as to achieve the purpose of strengthening the spleen and stomach, warming the meridians and dispersing cold. As Wu Shiji, a famous external therapist of the Qing Dynasty, said with deep appreciation, “Then we know that the medicine enters from the navel, which is the same as the entrance, and the medicine can be changed day by day.” The principle of Chinese medicine and internal treatment is basically the same, only the method of drug delivery is different. Chinese medicine navel therapy is suitable for infants with chronic eczema, symptoms: eczema is mostly seen in infants under 3 years old, often recurrent, and does not heal over the years, the lesions are located in the head and face, limbs, neck, chest and abdomen, the skin color is not very red, sometimes oozing yellow water, or dry and scaly, itching is sometimes light and sometimes heavy. It is often accompanied by loose stools, fishy, or milk flaps, or sour taste in the mouth, drooling, even more so when eating cold food. The face is yellowish or s white, the tongue is pale white, the coating is white or smooth, and the pulse is weak. The pathogenesis is due to the weakness of the spleen and stomach, which cannot transport water-dampness and overflow in the skin. Treatment should be to strengthen the spleen and resolve dampness, dispel wind and relieve itching. The medicine uses Cang Zhu, Bai Zhu, Chen Pi, Dizi Zi, Fang Feng, Bai Zhi, Han Xia, Fu Ling, Tribulus terrestris, each equal parts, research as fine, fragrant oil into a soft cake, fixed in the umbilical fossa with adhesive tape or wound damp pain relief cream, if allergic to adhesive tape, with skin disease can also be fixed. Change the medicine once every two or three days. Ten times is a course of treatment. This formula uses Xia Chen Liu Jun Zi Tang to strengthen the spleen and resolve dampness, and adds Fang Feng, Bai Zhi, Tribulus terrestris and Di Shu Zi to dispel wind and relieve itching. The use of this method must be the right evidence. If treating infantile eczema caused by damp-heat stagnation and fumigation on the skin, it must be treated with drugs that clear heat and dispel dampness and detoxify the skin, and administered by means of Chinese herbal reserved enemas. If this method is misused, not only will it not cure, but it can also aggravate the condition.
