And “red farts” say BYE BYE

In pediatric clinics, we often see young mothers and fathers who are overwhelmed by a small problem with their babies, and “red farts” is one of them. This “red fart” looks so simple, but it can be a real headache for parents to prevent and deal with it! The baby is crying, mom and dad can be distressed, in the end what is caused by the “red farts”, farts red and how to do it? In fact, the baby’s “red buttocks” is called “newborn red buttocks”, there is a scientific name “diaper dermatitis”, is a common skin disease of newborns and children before one year old. The skin of infants is very delicate, and if they do not change their diapers and clean their buttocks in time after urinating and defecating, they will get a rash due to wet urine, mostly in the area where the diapers are padded. Diaper dermatitis starts with redness of the skin around the anus, and then gradually extends to the skin covered by the diaper, such as the buttocks, perineum, inner thighs, etc. In severe cases, small red papules or blisters may appear, with localized oozing or vesicles, and infection may also develop. Due to the local pain and discomfort, babies often cry and fuss. So, how to prevent diaper dermatitis? First, choose the right diapers. Nowadays, families mostly use “diapers”, that is, diapers, which are convenient and quick, and avoid the trouble of washing diapers. The correct choice of diapers is a discipline – you must choose diapers that are highly absorbent and breathable, but also suitable for the age and size of the baby, neither too loose nor too tight! However, some babies have “sensitive” skin and even breathable diapers are difficult to tolerate, so it’s time for our traditional cloth diapers! When making cloth diapers, be sure to use soft, breathable and moisture-absorbent cotton cloth, pure white is best, light yellow, light pink and other light-colored cotton cloth can also be used; do not use dark-colored cloth, especially dark-colored coarse cloth, which is not easy to absorb water and easy to rub the baby’s skin. Second, diapers should be washed and changed regularly. No matter what kind of diaper it is, the baby should be changed in time after urinating and defecating to keep the baby’s delicate little butt dry at all times! If it is a cloth diaper, wash it with soap after changing it, rinse it thoroughly and then preferably scald it with boiling water and dry it in the sun for the purpose of disinfection and sterilization. In addition, after each bowel movement, wash the buttocks with warm water to keep them locally clean. What to do if your baby’s buttocks are already red If your baby has already developed diaper dermatitis, stop washing your baby’s buttocks with soap. After washing the buttocks with warm water and gently drying them with a clean soft cloth, you can apply glyburide lotion, usually 4 or 5 times a day, for a few days to cure it. It is important to note that this time do not use talcum powder or prickly heat powder, some parents in a hurry to wipe a gas, the baby’s buttocks are “and mud”, the results of diaper dermatitis not only not good, but aggravated. If the local skin vesicles, ooze, and the solution is clear, no special odor, available special treatment lamp irradiation, but must be under the guidance of a doctor, so as not to cause burns. If you find that your baby’s farts are more vile, or the ooze has turned yellow, green, and smelly, you must go to the hospital and treat them professionally with antibiotic ointments. In short, diaper dermatitis is not a serious disease, parents should not worry about it, as long as you take care of it, active prevention and treatment, you will be able to say “Bye Bye” to the red farts!
