How to detect and treat thyroid disease in a timely manner

Yvonne Andersson, president of the International Thyroid Federation, says of our thyroid gland: “The thyroid is the engine of our body”, controlling the body’s metabolic activity and affecting every part of the body. However, the engine can sometimes malfunction. Thyroid disorders are very common, however, they are not given enough attention. Symptoms of thyroid disorders can easily be confused with a number of other conditions or ignored as a normal sign of increasing age, so patients are unlikely to have symptom relief without proper diagnosis and treatment. Approximately 10-20% of women over the age of 40 have thyroid disorders, but their treatment rate is low. Thyroid disorders such as hypothyroidism can endanger all tissues and organs of the body and even cause abnormal heart function, dyslipidemia, infertility, etc. Like diabetes, thyroid disease is a common disease in endocrinology. We hope that patients will pay attention to thyroid diseases so that they can be treated in a timely manner and our “engine” can run normally!
