One of the manifestations of syphilis, spinal consumption, causes a variety of visceral crises, with gastric crises being the most common. Gastric syphilis (syphilisofstomach) is caused by the invasion of the stomach wall by syphilis spirochetes and is a rare gastric disease. 1.Pathogenesis Gastric syphilis is caused by the invasion of syphilis spirochetes. 2.Pathogenesis The lesion begins in the submucosa of the stomach. Early syphilis can involve the stomach wall, but most of them are transient, and the pathological changes of the gastric mucosa in the second stage of syphilis are not specific. The gastric lesions are mainly caused by stage III syphilis and show inflammatory infiltrates and formation of dendritic swellings, solitary or multiple, with granulomatous histological changes and central necrotic lesions surrounded by epithelioid cells, fibroblasts and giant cells. The pathogen can be seen by silverophilic staining or fluorescein-labeled antibody staining in the dark field, and can also be detected by immunization. The inflammatory infiltrate is predominantly submucosal, and the muscularis may also be thickened. The surface mucosa of the lesion is smooth and dark in color. They may also form typical dendritic swellings and superficial nodules in the gastric wall, which later ulcerate into ulcers with a hard nodular sensation on contact, forming scarring or penetrating the gastric wall.
