How to treat dysphagia after a stroke

Stroke-induced dysphagia is medically known as pseudobulbar palsy. Pseudobulbar palsy is caused by bilateral upper motor neuron lesions and is characterized clinically by dysarthria, dysphasia, mastication, dysphagia and affective disorders, of which dysphagia is the most harmful and can cause complications such as psychological disorders, dehydration, aspiration pneumonia, malnutrition and asphyxia in patients, which greatly endanger human health and bring serious economic and social burden to patients, families and The research of its prevention and treatment has become a difficult point in clinical treatment. The causes of pseudobulbar palsy are mainly cerebrovascular disease, multiple sclerosis, carbon monoxide poisoning, etc. Cerebrovascular disease accounts for 96% of the complications, including swallowing disorders in the acute phase of stroke is quite high, accounting for about 40% of the chronic phase, there are still less than 10% residual swallowing disorders, which are associated with increased disability and mortality, and can independently affect the mortality rate. More than 30% of patients die from complications due to inability to eat, therefore, rehabilitation of patients with pseudobulbar palsy has become one of the most important research topics at home and abroad today. Clinically, modern medicine can say that there is no better treatment method, and it is reported that nearly 10% of patients with acute stroke with swallowing disorder still cannot eat through the mouth after 1 month of rehabilitation training, and only 2/3 of those with effective training in the chronic period, and nasal feeding has brought great difficulties to care with more complications. How to find an ideal treatment method, improve clinical efficacy and promote patient recovery is not only an important issue in the field of medicine, but also a great contribution to mankind. A large number of clinical practice has confirmed that acupuncture is an effective method for treating pseudobulbar palsy, with good efficacy and quick results. We have conducted clinical research work on the treatment of pseudobulbar palsy by acupuncture using item acupuncture therapy, and have treated hundreds of cases of this disease since 2003, with a total effective rate of over 90%, achieving good therapeutic results.
