Tooth extraction scraping, as the name implies, is a certain amount of scraping that is performed after the tooth is extracted. The reason why scraping is performed is because some teeth have some inflammation in the apical region and after the tooth is extracted, the inflammatory tissue remains in the extraction socket. To completely remove the remaining inflammatory tissue, apical scraping is performed. Apical scraping is usually done with a unique instrument called a scraper in dentistry, which is used to do some scraping. There is another situation where post-extraction scraping can be used, such as a tooth that is fractured with many small fragments, and when the tooth is extracted, it is likely that there will be some residual tooth fragments or residual bone fragments left in the extraction socket. If they are left in the extraction socket, it will cause poor healing of the socket, post-operative pain, swelling, inflammation and so on. Therefore, in this case, post-extraction scraping is also used after tooth extraction to remove all these bone fragments, tooth fragments, and various kinds of granulation tissues, so that the extraction socket healing can proceed normally and the post-operative restoration can be gradual.
