Braces are generally adjusted once every one to two months, the specific adjustment time needs to be determined according to the individual choice of braces material, the degree of malocclusion, orthodontic design program and other factors, should follow the doctor’s instructions for adjustment.
1. The material of braces: At present, the braces commonly used in clinical practice include traditional metal braces, metal self-ligating braces, ceramic braces, invisible braces, etc. Among them, the traditional metal braces generally need to be adjusted in about one month for the main archwire and ligating wires, etc.; metal self-ligating braces generally need to be adjusted in about one and a half to two months for the main archwire; and invisible braces are generally adjusted once every two to three months.
2. Degree of malocclusion: For mild crowding of teeth, the frequency of adjustment after wearing braces is generally relatively reduced, and can be adjusted once in two months or so; while for severe crowding of teeth, combined with the emergence of deep overlap, deep cover and other abnormalities, generally need half a month to one month adjustment.
3. Orthodontic design program: the time of braces adjustment is mainly based on the program developed by orthodontists to determine the general need for a month to check the teeth to move the situation; for individual special circumstances, braces adjustment time may be shortened to half a month, and for the later fine tuning, the adjustment time can be extended to two months.
