Do pregnant women need to take DHA supplements

Due to the increasing number of commercially available health products in recent years, various internet channels have promoted the benefits of DHA on infant mental development, but nutritional guidelines do not provide evidence of a relevant effect. If a balanced diet can be achieved, for example, pregnant women who consume fish more than twice a week, additional supplements are generally not recommended. If the individual’s diet is poor, e.g., less fish is consumed in northern regions, additional DHA supplementation can be taken at a dose of approximately 200 mg per person per day. It is recommended that when choosing a supplement, attention be paid to its subsequent nutritional label.
