Pu huang is suitable for frying to stop bleeding, can be decocted and taken internally, but must be decocted; or into the pills; external use of powdered sprinkles or compresses; can also be used with other drugs.
Pu huang is flat in nature and sweet in flavor; it belongs to liver and pericardium meridians. It is effective in stopping bleeding, resolving blood stasis and inducing diuresis. It can be combined with Pomegranate Flower to stop bleeding, and powdered to be taken as powder if treating frequent bleeding from the nose; with Ai Ye and Long Bone if treating excessive menstruation and leakage of menstruation; or alone if treating bleeding from traumatic injuries.
This product is good at resolving blood stasis and stopping bleeding, and can be used for pain in the heart and abdomen, dysmenorrhea, and abdominal pain with stasis obstruction after childbirth, etc. It is often combined with Wu Ling Yi to synthesize Lost Smile San. It can also be used for hemorrhagic drenching (the appearance of blood in urine accompanied by pain), astringent pain in urination, and so on.
Stir-fried Pu Huang is stir-fried over a mild fire, and is ready when it is stir-fried to a yellowish-brown color. When used to stop bleeding, it is usually used to stop bleeding. The adverse effects of Pu Huang are not known; pregnant women should be cautious.
