How to take an axial radiograph of the heel bone

Heel axial radiographs are generally arranged with a small focal point, and the distance between the radiographs is generally 75-100 cm. The patient is asked to lie supine or flat on the camera table with the affected limb straight, with the tip of the thumb facing upward, the patient himself pulling the toes with a bandage, the ankle as dorsiflexed as possible, and the sole of the foot against the IP plate, with the centerline of the anterior edge of the IP plate designed to be inclined at an angle of 45 degrees to the cephalad side, shooting through the heel median directly at the center of the IP plate. The purpose of the heel axial radiograph is to clarify the heel fracture, as well as the lateral displacement of the dislocation, and to clarify whether there is a lateral heel spur or other lesion.
