What to do if your toe is inflamed, swollen and painful

The most common cause of inflamed, swollen and painful toes is caused by gingivitis, which is mainly treated with anti-inflammatory therapy. Wearing shoes that are too tight, or toenails that are cut too short, can easily lead to gingivitis, and the symptoms of red, swollen and inflamed toes appear. Use povidone-iodine to disinfect the area, wait for the povidone-iodine to dry, then use erythromycin ointment, or ichthyol ointment to apply the area, and take broad-spectrum antibiotics orally under the guidance of a doctor. If the disease progresses with symptoms of pus, if necessary, incision and drainage, timely change of medicine, to promote the healing of the incision. While treating, wear loose shoes to avoid the toes squeezing each other and aggravating the symptoms. The inflamed, swollen and painful toes should not be exposed to water, otherwise it will easily lead to secondary infection. Avoid spicy and stimulating food during treatment, and eat a light diet. If the symptoms cannot be controlled by medication, you should go to the regular hospital as soon as possible for examination and treatment.
