Waking up in the morning with blocked ears may be related to cerumen embolism, acute secretory otitis media and sudden deafness.
1. Cerumen impaction: excessive secretion of cerumen glands in the external auditory canal or poor cerumen discharge, which gradually accumulates to a certain extent in the external auditory canal, can form cerumen impaction, and when this process occurs at night, the ears may feel blocked when waking up in the morning.
2. Acute secretory otitis media: going to bed too late, overwork during the day and catching a cold at night can lead to upper respiratory tract infections due to lowered body resistance. When the inflammation spreads to the eustachian tube, acute secretory otitis media can occur. Early lesions often only a small amount of middle ear effusion, with negative pressure in the middle ear as the main manifestation. The ear may feel blocked when you get up in the morning.
3. Sudden deafness: a sudden, unexplained sensorineural hearing loss. Most patients have a history of overexertion, cold or flu before the onset of the disease. Mainly have a sudden hearing loss, tinnitus, ear stuffiness and vertigo and other symptoms. It can manifest as waking up in the morning with ears feeling blocked.
