Under normal circumstances, it is fine to rub the inside of the lip with iodophor 1 to 2 times a day. If there is a special need, rubbing 2 to 3 times is also possible. The method of use should be in accordance with the doctor’s advice. 1. Since iodophor is an organic complexed iodine, it is a minor local irritant to the wound. If this complexed iodine is continuously present and added, the iodine ions released can have an effect on wound healing. 2. Therefore, povidone-iodine rubbed once or twice is usually not a big problem. If povidone-iodine is rubbed repeatedly, wound healing may be slowed down. In addition, repeated use of iodophor can cause localized wound dryness, which is not conducive to wound healing. Povidone-iodine rubbing is mainly used to disinfect the wound, making the local bacteria killed and the wound can heal process by itself. It is not good for wound healing if the wound is irritated repeatedly.
