Chloasma belongs to the category of sallow spot (refers to the pigmentation disorder of facial skin) in Chinese medicine. Sallow spots caused by stagnation of blood and qi can be treated by taking Taohong Si Wu Tang (桃红四物汤), or applying Silk White Spot Dispelling Ointment (丝白祛斑软膏), and so on. Sallow spots are mostly found on the face and are more common in women. The skin lesions are yellowish-brown or blackish patches of varying shapes and sizes, with dull color and clear boundaries, not higher than the skin surface. 1. Addition and subtraction of Tao Hong Si Wu Tang: Insufficiency of qi and blood causes poor operation of qi and blood, resulting in stagnation of qi and blood stasis, and sallow spots due to lack of nourishment on the face. The treatment should tonify qi and nourish blood, activate blood circulation and remove blood stasis, and the formula is Taohong Si Wu Tang plus subtractions, commonly used traditional Chinese medicines include Angelica sinensis, safflower, Citrus aurantium dulcis, Dioscorea alata, peach kernel, Platycodon grandiflorus, Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong, Radix Paeoniae Lactiflorae, Radix glycyrrhiza glabra and Cortex Psoraleae. Its adverse effects and contraindications are not clear. 2. Silk White Spot Dispelling Ointment: It has the efficacy of dispelling wind and eliminating spots, activating blood circulation and removing blood stasis. It is used for chloasma caused by stagnation of blood and qi and loss of skin nourishment. It is applied to the affected area of the face. The adverse reaction of this drug is not clear. Note that it is forbidden for those who are allergic to this product and pregnant women. Sallow spots caused by qi and blood stasis should be treated under the guidance of a doctor.
