On May 10-11, 2014, a series of academic activities including the 6th Neurology Forum, a national continuing education program, and the 3rd anniversary summary meeting of the Neurology Consultation Center and the 2nd Young Physicians’ Difficult Case Report Speech Contest were held by the Department of Neurology in our hospital. The forum attracted more than 200 participants from experts, professors, scholars and related medical personnel from neurology and other medical fields. Party Secretary Wang Wenbiao, Vice President Shen Jiyun and Wang Xili attended the forum activities. The forum was hosted by Dr. Xing Yan, Director of the Department of Neurology. At the opening ceremony, on behalf of the hospital, Secretary Wang Wenbiao expressed warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to the Neurology Consultation Center and the participating experts, professors and colleagues, and issued appointment letters to the experts of the Consultation Center. Secretary Wang affirmed the rapid development of the Department of Neurology in recent years and the promotion of the training of young physicians, and the help of the Neurology Consultation Center for difficult patients since its establishment three years ago. Eight young neurology physicians carried out a speech contest of difficult case reports with PPTs elaborated under the guidance of senior physicians. Four experts from Beihang University Hospital, Beihang Hospital, Beijing Hospital and Anzhen Hospital made comprehensive scores and gave comments. One first prize, two second prizes and three third prizes were awarded, and the gold and silver medal counselors were evaluated in combination with the results of the contestants. Vice President Shen Jiyun, Wang Xili and the judges and experts awarded the certificates to the winners. Director Xing Yan pointed out in the summary that the Speech Contest for Difficult Case Reports of Young Physicians has been successfully held for two times, which has greatly stimulated the enthusiasm of young physicians to learn because of the novel form, rich content and learning from the competition. This competition is a strict assessment of the basic knowledge, clinical treatment ideas, literature reading, case organization, basic clinical skills and PPT production, speech level and other qualities of young doctors. We hope that the young physicians will develop their strengths and make up for their shortcomings, and grow rapidly. On the day of the forum, Prof. Yuan Yun from Peking University Hospital, Prof. Wan Xinhua from Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Prof. Wang Yuping from Xuanwu Hospital, Prof. Li Yanfeng from Peking Union Medical College Hospital, and Prof. Xing Yan from Aviation General Hospital composed the forum on neuromuscular degenerative diseases and neurophysiology, and Prof. Qiu Zhiyong, Deputy Chief Physician, Dr. Han Hongyan, Chief Physician, Dr. Jin Yongjian, Prof. Li Jingfu, and Prof. Yang Xu from Aerospace Central Hospital composed the forum on cerebrovascular diseases. Prof. Yang Xu from Space Center Hospital and Dr. Qiu Zhiyong, Dr. Han Hongyan, Dr. Jin Yongjian, Prof. Li Jingfu and Prof. Yang Xu from our neurology group brought exciting presentations to the academic event. The forum also gave some participants a booklet entitled “Selected Difficult Cases in the Neurological System” written by the Department of Neurology of our hospital, which was well received by the participants. The forum also attracted many sister departments of our hospital to observe and study, which has played a positive role in promoting continuing medical education and training of young physicians in our hospital.
