The survival period of esophagotracheal fistula mostly depends on the specific case. Once esophagotracheal fistula occurs, it is mostly the result of advanced manifestation of esophageal cancer. Because early lymph node metastasis can occur in esophageal cancer, especially liver metastasis and lung metastasis, and the tracheal fistula itself can easily cause obstruction in eating, swallowing, or difficulty in eating. In this case, gastrointestinal decompression or esophageal stenting is usually used. This method only improves the symptoms and does not completely cure the disease. In cases of multiple metastases, the survival period is still relatively low. In conclusion, the survival period for esophagotracheal fistula is generally 3-6 months, which may last about 6 months or 10 months, and for other categories that already have a cachectic state, it may last 1-2 months.
