Sepsis is a syndrome of systemic inflammatory response caused by infection, an acute systemic infection induced by the invasion of various pathogenic bacteria into the blood circulation to grow and multiply and produce toxins. The diagnostic criteria for urogenital sepsis are: 2 or more of the following manifestations in the presence of urinary tract infection, 1. temperature >38°C or <36°C. 2. heart rate >90 beats/min. 3. tachypnea with respiratory rate >20 breaths/min or hyperventilation with arterial blood carbon dioxide partial pressure <32 mmHg. 4. white blood cell count >12×10^9/L or < 4×10^9/L, or total leukocyte count is normal, but neutrophil granulocytes (immature neutrophils) >10%.
