Normal value of carotid intima-media thickening was <1mm, and the diagnosis of carotid intima-media thickening was considered if the carotid intima-media thickness was >1mm. If the limited intima-media thickness is ≥1.5mm, the diagnosis of carotid plaque formation is made. Carotid intima-media thickening is often associated with cardiovascular diseases, such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and hyperglycemia. For patients with carotid intima-media thickness thickening, screening for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases must be done. If hypertension exists, the blood pressure level needs to be actively controlled. If hyperlipidemia exists, lipid regulation therapy is needed. If high blood sugar exists, blood sugar control is also needed. Avoid smoking and alcohol, keep bowel movement smooth, and develop good living habits.
