Do the results of a kidney puncture represent the whole kidney?

The full name of renal puncture is renal puncture biopsy, and its results usually represent the whole kidney, but there may be abnormalities in the test, in which case a repeat test should be considered.
Renal puncture is mainly used to diagnose glomerular disease, transplant kidney disease, secondary kidney disease and so on. Common examination methods include open renal biopsy, percutaneous puncture renal biopsy, laparoscopic renal biopsy and so on.
Renal puncture results are generally representative of the whole kidney, but false-negative or false-positive situations cannot be ruled out. For example, false-negative situation occurs when the tissue sampling performed by renal puncture does not pick up the diseased tissue and cannot accurately detect the kidney lesion.
Or during the development and treatment of renal lesions, the manifestations of renal pathology change, and false-positive or false-negative situations may occur, thus requiring repeat renal biopsies, etc. to rule out these abnormal results.
Patients who need renal puncture are recommended to go to regular hospitals in time and standardize the treatment under the guidance of doctors.
