Most patients with pneumonia will show improvement in symptoms after 72 hours of initial treatment, such as a decrease in temperature, improvement in symptoms, and a decrease or return to normalization of inflammatory markers (white blood cell counts, calcitoninogen, C-reactive protein) from the previous period. The treatment time corresponding to different pathogenic bacteria is not quite the same. 1. For common bacterial infectious pneumonia, such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, 5-7 days of treatment or 72 hours of treatment after the patient’s fever subsides is usually sufficient. 2. For pneumonia caused by pathogenic bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and anaerobic bacteria, treatment for more than 2 weeks is required. 3. For pneumonia caused by atypical pathogens, such as Mycoplasma and Chlamydia, treatment is required for 10~14 days, and 10~21 days for military groups.
