How to tell if it’s a muscle strain

The determination of whether or not a strain is present is based on the patient’s symptoms as well as the results of a muscle resistance test. Muscle strain refers to the injury caused by sharp contraction or excessive pulling of muscles during exercise. After a muscle strain, first of all, there will be localized severe pain, swelling, serious patients may have abnormal skin temperature; secondly, there may be obvious striated hard lumps, subcutaneous bleeding or subcutaneous bruises at the site of the strain, and some patients may have limitation of limb function. Suspected muscle strain, you can use the simplest muscle resistance test to determine. The specific method is that the patient does the active contraction activity of the injured muscle, and the examiner applies a certain resistance to the activity. If there is pain in the corresponding muscle area during the confrontation process, i.e., the active contraction part of the muscle is painful, then it indicates that the muscle resistance test is positive, which means that there is a muscle strain in the patient. If the patient’s pain symptoms are severe, or if the symptoms persist without improvement, he/she should go to the hospital in time for treatment.
