Location of the colon

The colon is the end of the human intestine and has 1.3 m. It is divided into four parts: ascending, transverse, descending and sigmoid colon. Starting from top to bottom in the ileocecal cecum, the ascending colon is distributed on the right side of the abdominal wall and runs up against the side about 20 cm to the hepatic region. In the hepatic region it turns to the left to form the transverse colon, approximately 45 cm, which is distributed behind the stomach and crosses to the splenic region. After turning in the splenic region, it descends on the left side of the abdomen to form the descending colon, approximately 26 cm. The anterior superior iliac spine then makes a mild right turn to form the sigmoid colon on the lower right side, approximately 30 cm. The sigmoid colon is followed by the rectum to the anus, and the approximate location of the colon is a circle around the periphery of the abdomen, forming a three-quarter circle.
