The right way to rehab an elbow fracture

Rehabilitation of elbow fracture is related to the treatment method as well as the patient’s recovery. It mainly focuses on muscle strength training and joint mobility training.
1. Elbow flexion and extension exercise training:
(1) Passive exercise: It is suitable for the early rehabilitation of the fracture with good fixation around the elbow joint. The patient carries out passive exercise with the help of the rehabilitation therapist to the extent that it does not produce pain, which improves the blood circulation around the elbow joint, prevents the elbow joint from stiffness, and improves the flexibility of flexion and extension.
(2) Assisted or active exercise: it is suitable for patients whose fracture healing has reached a certain strength, or who have strong internal fixation support within the affected limb. The patient takes the standing position, straightens the arm, and does the assisted or active elbow flexion and extension exercise. It can maintain or improve the elbow joint range of motion, enhance the muscle strength around the elbow joint, and improve the flexion and extension mobility.
2. Elbow flexion and extension resistance exercise training: for patients whose muscle strength around the elbow joint has recovered to a certain degree. Patients take a standing position, feet apart, shoulder-width apart, left hand dumbbells, do elbow flexion and extension movements, alternating between left and right hands, and repeated several times. To enhance muscle strength, enhance the role of shoulder joint stability.
It is recommended that patients under the guidance of a professional doctor for treatment, the development of individualized training programs, do not blindly self-training, to avoid the adverse consequences.
