What to do if your baby is constipated all the time

Baby constipation is categorized into functional constipation and organic constipation, which can be dealt with through dietary adjustment, massage, use of drugs or surgery.
1. Functional constipation: it can be caused by unreasonable diet structure. It can be relieved by adjusting the mother’s diet, eating more vegetables and fruits and other complementary foods, feeding water in moderation, and massaging the baby’s lower abdomen clockwise. Probiotics, such as Bacillus subtilis bacillus granules, can also be taken to improve intestinal motility. If necessary, you can use corkscrew to assist in defecation.
2. Organic constipation:
(1) Congenital megacolon: due to the continuous spasm of the rectum or distal colon, fecal stagnation in the proximal colon, so that the intestinal tube is hypertrophied and dilated, which will lead to constipation in babies. Oral laxatives, such as lactulose oral solution, can be taken to help defecation; corkscrew can also be used to stimulate the sphincter muscle and induce defecation; severe cases can be improved by enemas or surgical treatment, such as colostomy.
(2) Congenital hypothyroidism: it is a disease caused by insufficient synthesis of thyroid hormone or defects in its receptors, which can also lead to constipation in babies all the time. The symptoms of constipation can be improved by taking thyroid preparations, such as levothyroxine sodium tablets. The regular diet should be rich in protein, vitamins and minerals.
If your baby’s constipation is not relieved by dietary adjustments, you should consult a doctor to determine the cause of the problem and standardize the medication and treatment. The above medicines should be used according to the doctor’s prescription.
