Spasmodic dysphonia: It is the frequent involuntary pauses in speech, accompanied by difficulty in ventilation. It is mainly a spasm of the laryngeal muscles when speaking, which leads to a transient closure of the vocal cords, a pause in the voice, and difficulty in ventilation. These patients cannot speak and communicate normally and are in great pain. It affects life and work. Nowadays, using electromyography positioning, it is possible to treat the spastic laryngeal muscle (arytenoid muscle) by precisely injecting botulinum toxin type A into it. This treatment method has been recognized by domestic and international colleagues. Figure 1 shows that an elderly female patient at our center had a voice pause during speech, while the vocal folds were visible on fiberoptic laryngoscopy. Figure 2 shows that this patient received an extracorporeal minimally invasive injection of botulinum toxin type A injection under electromyographic localization.
