Poria and Pueraria Mirifica are used to relieve water retention and swelling, and to relieve heat from the skin surface.
Poria, has the effects of inducing diuresis to eliminate edema, seeping dampness, strengthening the spleen and tranquilizing the heart. It is used for treating edema, phlegm (pathological products formed by impaired water and fluid metabolism), diarrhea due to spleen deficiency, palpitation, and insomnia. Caution is advised for those with deficiency of cold and essence, and those with deficiency of qi.
Pueraria Mirifica, with the effects of relieving muscles and fever, penetrating rashes, generating fluids and quenching thirst. It is mainly used in treating superficial fever, strong pain in the neck and back, impermeable measles, feverish thirst, deficiency of yin and thirst, deficiency of spleen and diarrhea. It is not to be used for people with cold deficiency, and should be used with caution for people with cold stomach and vomiting.
