Wide excision of the cervix refers to removing the cervix and its surrounding tissues cleanly, but retaining the uterine body. It is usually a surgical plan for cervical cancer stage 1a2 and 1b1, with tumors smaller than two centimeters, especially for women who wish to have reproductive function. 1. Patients with early stage of cervical cancer have relatively small tumor size, less than two centimeters, and it is only confined to the cervix, and the patients wish to retain the reproductive function, so that the uterine body is retained in the operation and the cervix is widely excised. 2. Intraoperatively, attention should be paid to pelvic lymph node clearance, and rapid frozen pathology examination should be done to confirm that there is no metastasis in the lymph nodes. 3. The surgery is performed to preserve the uterus as well as the ovarian vasculature as much as possible, freeing the uterine arteries and removing the cervix in close proximity to the isthmus of the uterus. This procedure allows the patient to still have the opportunity to accomplish fertility and fulfill her desire to be a mother after the surgery. Isthmus cerclage is usually recommended before pregnancy to avoid late miscarriage due to cervical insufficiency. After the procedure, patients are required to undergo regular follow-ups and prepare for pregnancy under the guidance of the doctor.
