How to choose medication for headaches based on symptoms

Headache needs to be selected according to the nature of the headache, accompanying symptoms and so on. Traditional Chinese medicine classifies headache into different types, and the symptoms and medicines used for different types are different. 1. Headache with severe pain, tightness (body spasm and convulsion due to wind-cold), accompanied by fear of wind, nasal congestion, fever as the main manifestations of wind-cold type, can take Chuanxiong Cha Zhi San. 2. Headache with distension and dizziness, mainly on both sides, irritability, bitterness in the mouth and redness in the face, or accompanied by dystocia (pain in the area of coercion and ribs) as the main manifestation belongs to the Liver-Yang type, and Tianma Hook Teng Drink can be taken. 5. Headache and dizziness, palpitation (rapid heartbeat, often accompanied by panic), palpitation (violent heartbeat, panic), fatigue (mental exhaustion, physical weakness), and less colorful face belong to the blood deficiency type, and can be taken with Jiawei Siwu Tang. 6. If the main manifestations of headache are vague, occurring and stopping, aggravated by exertion, reduced appetite, tiredness and fatigue, shortness of breath and spontaneous sweating (involuntary sweating during the daytime, aggravated by sweating with slight movement), it is mostly of the qi deficiency type, and Jiawei Siwu Tang can be taken.
