Spitting up in infants may be a normal physiological phenomenon, or it may be caused by indigestion, gastroesophageal reflux and other reasons.
1. Physiological phenomenon: Since the stomach of infants is still immature, the stomach shows a horizontal position, and the entrance of the stomach is relatively loose, with a small stomach capacity, spitting up occurs when infants are held on their backs immediately after feeding.
2. Indigestion: Since the gastrointestinal tract of small infants is still not well developed, the digestive ability of the gastrointestinal system is weak, if too much milk is fed at one time, it is easy to cause indigestion in infants, and the phenomenon of spitting up may occur.
3. Gastroesophageal reflux: The reflux of gastric contents, which may be caused by relaxation of the lower esophageal sphincter, can lead to frequent spitting up of milk, and can be accompanied by epigastric pain and other symptoms.
Infants spit up, can also be seen in viral meningitis, congenital hypertrophic pyloric stenosis and other causes, if you exclude physiological factors, it is recommended that the patient go to the hospital in time, a clear diagnosis of the doctor’s orders for treatment, to avoid delaying the condition.
