Contact lenses are worn attached to the surface of the eye, which is covered by the conjunctiva, which is divided into the bulbar conjunctiva and the lid conjunctiva, which are connected to each other. When a contact lens is dislodged from the cornea, if it remains on the surface of the eye, it may slide downward to the junction of the lid conjunctiva and the bulbar conjunctiva, clinically known as the conjunctival vault, and will be confined to this, but will not run behind the eye.
Contact lens detachment from the cornea may be caused by poor wearing habits such as frequent rubbing of the eyes or inappropriate type of contact lens, patients need to improve their wearing habits and choose the right contact lens under the guidance of a doctor.
Patients who experience discomfort with contact lenses are advised to seek medical attention to evaluate their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
