Colleagues: Director Li is a well-known expert in Nanjing’s plastic surgery community and the youngest chief of the department of plastic surgery at a public tertiary hospital. As a department leader, he has always influenced his colleagues and friends around him with his sincere style of dealing with things. The philosophy of “more sincere and more professional” has laid the foundation of his success. Patient: When I first met Director Li, I asked him a lot of questions. Although he was busy, he answered my questions with patience and care. Fortunately, I was booked for the surgery. I was very nervous during the surgery and the moment I was lying on the operating table is still fresh in my mind. When I couldn’t control my shaking body, Director Li comforted me, my nervousness was relieved and the surgery was carried out in a relaxed and harmonious atmosphere. What surprised me most was that I did not feel any pain during the surgery, which I think I owe to Director Li’s excellent skills and extensive experience. When I was 7 years old, I aspired to be a doctor when I grow up so that I could help others to relieve their pain. When I applied for the college entrance examination, almost all of my choices were for medical schools. I finally got into Beijing Medical University as I had hoped. The spirit of “patriotism and professionalism” is deeply rooted in my heart. After graduating from the university, I was assigned to Nanjing and became a plastic surgeon. Plastic surgeon’s work is two things “snow in the charcoal” and “icing on the cake”. In 2009, I was introduced as a key talent to the Nanjing Maternal and Child Health Hospital to create a medical aesthetic department. In these work experiences, there are joys and laments. But all let me more and more deeply appreciate, to be an excellent plastic surgeon, must be “calm, free to follow the fate”. As a doctor, in today’s more tense doctor-patient relationship, must be calm and peaceful. I never advocate treating the patient as God. What I expect is to treat the patient as a friend, to think of him from the heart and to help him solve his problems. So many patients have become my good friends. Of course, for some patients who are more radical, I need to be more calm and peaceful. I often admonish myself after being aggrieved: he is a patient, don’t punish yourself with other people’s mistakes, and be calm. As a result, the mood is much better. The cosmetic surgery industry is a little different from other medical industries, it is a special needs program, so there is a lot of private capital involved in this industry. So many plastic surgeons have more opportunities to make money, so they will look at the money to do some surgery that should not be done, so the industry also has a lot of medical disputes. As a doctor in a public tertiary hospital, I feel that the temptation to treat the benefits must be “free and easy”. A gentleman loves his money, and he has a way of taking it. Not to do things that go against the conscience and medical ethics, will live more comfortable. When it comes to health, I think it is a topic that needs to be integrated with work and life. The concept of “peace of mind and ease of mind” is naturally suitable for life as well. If you treat your family with peace of mind and treat your material needs with ease, you will live a happy life. Of course, my baby daughter must be mentioned in this regard. Whether it’s work fatigue or depressed mood, as long as she wrapped her arms around my neck, fleshy little face on my face, those will immediately dissipate, the world is left only happiness and joy.
