Ear acupressure for allergic rhinitis

Allergic rhinitis, also known as allergic rhinitis, belongs to the category of “congested nose” and “congested sneeze” in Chinese medicine. It is mostly caused by lung deficiency and wind and cold, mostly related to the lungs, spleen and kidneys, with its origin in the kidneys and its symptoms in the lungs and spleen; there are congenital births and acquired illnesses. The treatment should be to benefit the qi and fix the surface, to astringent the lung and stop sneezing, and to warm the kidney qi. The author’s clinical method of treating allergic rhinitis by applying ear beans has been effective, and the specific treatment is as follows. The patient is seated, and the doctor holds a matchstick with one end of the inner nose point, outer nose point, lung point, adrenal point, and wind stream point, and presses each point with moderate force repeatedly to find out the most painful point at the point for a mark, and puts a grain of raw Wang Bu Liuxing seeds selected and soaked in 75% alcohol in the middle of medical tape of about 6×6 mm, and the grain of medicine is put on the auricle against the mark of the selected point. The patient is instructed to press the adhesive tape 3~5 times a day, each time for more than 10 seconds per point, to the extent of local heat, swelling and pain, alternating between the left and right ears for 3 days, 15 times a course of treatment. The “Spiritual Pivot” says: “The ear is the place where the clan veins are gathered.” According to Chinese medicine, the ear is the part of the body where the skin surface of the ear communicates with the internal organs, meridians, tissues, organs and all the bones of the limbs, and it is also the place where the pulses are infused. When the body’s tissues and organs become diseased, various positive reactions, such as pressure pain, debridement, nodules, etc., appear on the corresponding ear points on the auricle. The internal nasal point and external nasal point can ventilate the nasal orifices. Lung points can purify the lung qi. The adrenal point has the effect of purging the lung and lowering Qi to calm asthma. The Feng Xi point is an important point for anti-allergy. These auricular points work together to regulate the immune function of the body, promote the balance of nerve function and restore the function of the body. Not only can they significantly improve the patient’s symptoms of sneezing, nasal congestion and runny nose, but also effectively prevent their recurrence, especially for young people under 30 years old.
