Chance of malignancy in ground glass nodules 6mm

The chance of malignancy for a 6 mm glassy nodule is 30%. Generally, if a ground glass nodule is less than 4 mm, it is not considered malignant. The chance of a ground glass nodule 5-8 mm being malignant is 30%, and the chance of a nodule over 8 mm being malignant is 50%. Depending on the morphology of the ground glass nodule and whether there are blood vessels crossing it, it is determined whether it is a benign nodule or a malignant nodule. If the nodule is dense and has blood vessels crossing it, it is definitely an early adenocarcinoma and should be treated surgically. If the glassy nodule is lighter and the CT value is less than -500Hu, it is more likely to be a benign nodule and it can be reviewed every six months to a year to observe the morphological changes of the nodule.
