The soft tissues of the knee include many tissues, commonly the meniscus, ligaments, and next to the ligaments, the medial and lateral collateral ligaments, and the cruciate ligaments. Recovery time varies depending on the patient’s injury. In the case of a relatively mild meniscus injury, recovery can be gradual with immobilization casts or braking for 4 weeks. If the injury is more severe, meniscoplasty repair surgery is required. In the case of lateral ligament injuries, which are less common because the lateral ligament is stronger and usually tends to cause medial ligament injuries, recovery can be achieved by immobilization in a cast for 4 weeks in the case of incomplete injuries. In the case of a complete rupture, after clarification by magnetic resonance, if repair is required, the corresponding recovery time will be prolonged because of the need for appropriate postoperative functional exercises. In addition, cruciate ligament injuries, especially anterior cruciate ligament injuries, are relatively more serious and the prognosis of the patient is more complicated. Generally, the rehabilitation time after surgery is longer, and the whole recovery time is longer than other ligament injuries.
