Drinking alcohol and smoking have been shown to damage fertility in both men and women. Both are more serious than a single problem. 2, Underweight, overweight or obesity can reduce female fertility. 3, Prolonged exposure to high heat, such as hot baths and saunas, can reduce sperm quality. 4, Lubricants, such as petroleum jelly or vaginal emulsions can affect the entry of sperm into the uterine cavity. 5, High doses of caffeine (greater than 200mg/day or about 2 cups) have been shown in relevant studies to make conception more difficult and increase the risk of miscarriage. 6, exposure to toxic substances, such as pesticides at work, radioactive substances, X – rays and electromagnetic waves or microwave emissions can lead to sperm abnormalities. 7. Some drugs used to treat heart disease and high blood pressure can lead to male infertility.
