The survival time of advanced lung cancer needs to be assessed based on the degree of control of the patient’s disease development and the clinicopathological type. The types of lung cancer can be divided into large cell carcinoma, small cell carcinoma, squamous carcinoma and adenocarcinoma, and the survival time of patients varies with different pathological types. In case of adenocarcinoma patients, even if metastases such as brain metastases and bone metastases occur, the prognosis is better through targeted drug treatment and the survival period will be extended accordingly, up to 1 year for some patients and 2-3 years or even longer for some patients. If patients do not undergo treatment, the survival period is generally shorter. As for small cell lung cancer, the prognosis of patients with advanced stage is worse and survival period is usually shorter. After treatment, the survival period of patients with advanced stage can be maintained for 10-12 months, and the exact time varies from person to person. Therefore, patients with advanced lung cancer need to maintain a positive attitude and treatment according to different pathological types is recommended to prolong the survival period.
