Patients with liver cirrhosis and ascites can apply traditional Chinese medicine. Because of liver depression, stagnation of qi and blood stasis, it can be used to regulate qi, eliminate stasis and eliminate swelling soup. The composition can be treated by applying Qu Mai, Fenghui, Jiao Ming, Zhi Jun, Curcuma longa, Citrus aurantium, Tao Ren, Danshen, Chuan Pu and other related medicines. If there is stagnation of qi, blood stasis, hepatic ascites with internal retention of water-dampness, Wo Liver Tang can be applied for treatment. Commonly used formulas are e.g. Qiancheng, Psyllium, Poria bark, Gunner’s Nail, Zeran, Dahua bark, Danshen, Yam, Zedoary, Astragalus and so on. In addition, it may be caused by Yin deficiency of the liver and kidney, and can be applied to nourish Yin and benefit water soup. For example, one can use turtle plate, turtle shell, raw earth, cun dong, abdominal skin, poria, ze laguna, hairy root, agaricus, ze lan, white peony, pipal leaf, cui yi and so on. However, patients should always be advised to use medication under the guidance of a Chinese medicine practitioner, and should never prescribe medication blindly on their own. Because many treatments in TCM require evidence-based treatment, it is recommended that the patient undergoes a relevant examination before using the medication.
